The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. One option is the traditional, instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end. The other option has two components: a self-study or “eLearning module” which is completed online in your own timeframe and a hands-on practical portion conducted in a classroom and shooting range with an Instructor.
Course topics include gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor.
This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting.
Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development.
The Eddie Eagle GunSafeprogram is a gun accident prevention program that seeks to help parents, law enforcement, community groups and educators navigate a topic paramount to our children’s safety. Eddie and his Wing Team are on a mission to help you teach Pre-K through 4th graders what to do if they ever come across a gun.
The Program neither offers nor asks for any value judgment concerning firearms. Like safety lessons about swimming pools, electrical outlets, and matchbooks, Eddie Eagle’s sole purpose is to give children crucial information about what to do if they ever come across a gun. With firearms found in about half of all American households, it is a message that makes sense. Eddie is never pictured holding or even touching a gun.
Each child will receive an activity book, message coin (challenge coin for you military folks), sticker, and the vital first steps in firearm safety. Parents will receive a guide to safety card and parent's guide.
Whether you are new to firearms or developing your skills to go to the next level, one of our certified instructors can assist you. We tailor our training to the individual through one on one instruction.
